Aircond Blowing Air But Not Cooling
Symptoms:
- Aircond working, but not cooling, only room temp air / hot air blowing out
- Occasionally able to produce cold air
- Apply cleaning foam, wait for 15min, then turn on the aircond for at least 15min
- If you have cleaning kit, spray a bit of water will be giving better cleaning outcome
Remove the filter net, spray cleaning foam on fins
Remove the vane (whichever possible), spray cleaning foam on roller
[Optional] Cleaning kit is good for drain-out the dirty water
Step 2: Check the CBB65 Capacitor @ Outdoor Unit
- If the air conditioner is blowing air but not cooling, and you've ruled out other issues, a failing capacitor could be the culprit.
- Compare the measured value to the capacitor's rating; a significant difference (typically more than 10-20% outside the tolerance) indicates a fault.
Open the Outdoor Unit top cover (4 screws).
Use screwdriver to short both terminals of capacitor (discharge) before removing it.
Old CBB65 (30uF) measured as 26.6uF. Can considered as faulty.
New CBB65 (30uF) measured as 29.6uF. Good for replacement.
Replace with a new CBB65 capacitor by connect to the cable lug.
Note:
- If still cannot solve the issue (not cooling), then please proceed to engage an aircond service guy. There is possibility of refrigerant leak.
Tools required:
- Screwdriver
- Multimeter
Cost involved:
- Aircond Cleaning Spray: US$1 ~ US$2
- CBB65 Capacitor (30uF +/- 5%, 450V): US$2 ~ US$3
