DIY Series 51: Repair Bread Maker (Trio TBM-111)

When you see your bread maker's kneading blade is not rotating when you press Stop/Start button, you might think that it is time to get a replacement unit.

In fact, the bread maker is still usable, just need to do a minor repair. I had another similar DIY on Morgan Bread Maker MBM-1020 previously.

This time, I am working on fixing of Trio TBM-111.

1. Open the top lid and take out the bread pan

2. Turn the bread maker upside down and unscrew 6 screws

3. Use a screwdriver, unlatch the top cover from the base

4. Open the top cover slowly and detach the control board connector in order to be able to remove the top cover completely

5. Unscrew 4 screws to remove the inner housing

6. Unscrew 7 screws at the base metal plate in order to see the belt

7. Flip over the base metal plate and you will see the old rubber belt is no longer exist. Only remain the debris and also a bunch of strings stuck at the motor rod

8. Clean the motor rod and the gear (at the bottom of kneading rod), remove the strings. Then, replace with new rubber belt.

9. Reassemble the unit back to its original condition.

10. Power ON and test the Bread Maker. If  none of the buttons (except Stop/Start button) is functioning when it was pressed, try to press and hold the Stop/Start button for 5 seconds to reset the program to default setting.

Tools required:
Screwdriver

Cost involved:
Rubber Belt = US$2.50

  1. Power Module PCB was taken out to check the malfunction parts
  2. Burnt parts identified (T3.15A Radial Fuse & Varistor 07D221K)
  3. Desoldered the broken parts
  4. Broken parts (Zoom In): Visual inspection and open/short test using multimeter
  5. Replace new parts (T3.15A Radial Fuse & Varistor 10D221K)

  2. Comparison of Varistor 07D221K vs 10D221K (to check on compatibility for replacement)
  3. Sourcing for radial fuse (T3.15A, 250V)
  4. Sourcing for varistor (use 10D221K to replace 07D221K, due to part unavailable from local market)
