DIY Series 50: Panasonic Air Purifier (Unable to Power On)
Panasonic Air Purifier (F-VXT90) - Japan Model (100V Supply Model)
It was told that the Panasonic Air Purifier (F-VXT90) was malfunction, unable to power on. The owner wanted to scrap it, but I managed to fix it with just merely US$0.50.
- Power Module PCB was taken out to check the malfunction parts
- Burnt parts identified (T3.15A Radial Fuse & Varistor 07D221K)
- Desoldered the broken parts
- Broken parts (Zoom In): Visual inspection and open/short test using multimeter
- Replace new parts (T3.15A Radial Fuse & Varistor 10D221K)
- Function of Varistor (Circuit Protection)
- Comparison of Varistor 07D221K vs 10D221K (to check on compatibility for replacement)
- Sourcing for radial fuse (T3.15A, 250V)
- Sourcing for varistor (use 10D221K to replace 07D221K, due to part unavailable from local market)
- Lying down the unit, open the front cover
- Remove the filters (3 parts) from the unit
- Unscrew the screw at the left and right (upper side)
- Unscrew the screw at the left and right (lower side)
- Unscrew 6 screws at the base to remove the roller base plate
- Remove the roller base plate
- Unscrew the center screw to remove the PCB Cover (upper side)
- Remove the Front Cover
- Unscrew to remove the Infrared PCB
- Remove connector on Wifi Module PCB (with MAC Address)
- Remove the 2nd layer PCB Cover
- Unscrew the 1st screw on Power Module PCB
- Unscrew the 2nd screw on Power Module PCB
- Disconnect all cable connectors, dismantle the Power Module PCB
- Radial Fuse (10 units): US$0.40
- Varistor (1 unit): US$0.10

Transportation Options for XMUM Students
This post is dedicated for XiaMen University Malaysia (XMUM) students.
XMUM is located at Bandar Sunsuria, very near to KLIA. It is just one station before KLIA Terminal 1 if you are travel by ERL (Express Rail Link) or more commonly known as KLIA Transit. The nearest ERL Station is Salak Tinggi Station.
It is merely 20min walking distance from XMUM campus to Salak Tinggi Station via Sunsuria City Le Park jogging track (with 24hrs CCTV monitoring).

DIY Series 49: Water Heater Inlet Valve's Washer Replacement
Symptoms:
- Water Heater inlet valve is not functioning to stop the water flow completely when it is turn OFF
Findings:
- Washer inside the valve was worn-out. Need to get replacement washer.

- To dismantle the knob, use hand to turn it anti-clockwise
- Get a new washer to be insert into its location
- New washer inserted into its location, place back the knob and turn it clockwise.

- Different brands might have different size of washer / parts. However, the same mechanism / concept should be common or similar across all types of valve / tap.

DIY Series 48: Washing Machine Suspension Rod Holder / Cup
Symptoms:
- Washing machine's drum tilted to one side
- Loud sound during its operation, and unable to proceed washing process
Findings:
- A suspension rod was found detached from its holder/cup
- One of the holder/cup was broken, the other 3 holders/cups was in bad condition

DIY Series 47: Laptop CMOS Battery (CR2032)
CMOS batteries can last from 3-10 years. However, just like any other consumable item, they need to be replaced at some point.
Symptoms:
- CMOS checksum is invalid
- CMOS Reset (502)
