Parit Buntar - Tg Piandang - Kuala Kurau
Half Day Eating Trip to Enter Northern Perak from Penang
Based on a map shared by someone at FB about Kulau Kurau, I revisited Kuala Kurau via Parit Buntar & Tanjung Piandang. Whole journey took about 6 hours.
Since the day I departed was the Hungry Ghost festival, most of the shops were closed.
My recommended driving route is as below:
- Juru Toll > Jawi Toll > USM (Nibong Tebal) > Parit Buntar
> Tg Piandang > Ban Pecah > Kuala Kurau > Kuala Gula
> Kuala Kurau > Nibong Tebal > Jawi Toll > Juru Toll

Satun Trip 4D3N: Phupha Phet Cave
Phupha Phet Cave is about 70 min drive from Pak Bara Pier.
- It is open everyday, recommended to go in the morning before visiting Wang Sai Thong
- Entrance fee for foreigners: THB100 (Adult) / THB50 (Children)
- There are restroom available near the ticket counter, but not in good conditions
- From entrance, after purchased the ticket, you need to hike for about 300-steps of staircase up hill
- Due to it is now (August) low peak season, there is nobody collecting entrance fee from us
- We are heading up hill by ourselves and enter the cave without any lights inside
- Luckily we had prepared several torchlight beforehand for this trip
- There are 6 stops in the cave, we managed to discover only 4 stops due to the cave is so dark without lighting
