Stop-By Town: Senggarang

Senggarang (新加兰) is a small town when I travel south at Johor during CNY.

From my understanding, it is very famous for its coffee powder, thus I stop-by to have a tea-break.

This is the main road view of Senggarang town.

The famous coffee shop (FaiLock Yen 快乐园) was closed during CNY. 

If you wanna to try their coffee powder, maybe you can try to contact the number below.

Found this Kedai Kopi Ah Foo behind Fai Lock Yen, I visited the branch shop, just opposite the main shop. It is basically a halal coffee shop, where you can see customers from all races gather here for a cup of tea / coffee. Nasi Lemak is just so-so, however such garlic bread (太空包) as below is quite popular here.

Pontian Wanton Mee 笨珍云吞面

Pontian Wanton Mee is a unique tomato-based noodle dish hailing from Pontian, Johor. 

The locals call it “Red Noodles (红面)” or “Tomato Wanton Mee (茄汁云吞面)”. It is even dubbed as the “Eastern Spaghetti” by tourists from Hong Kong. 

Basically, there are 3 varieties to choose from: 

Red Noodles (红面), Black Noodles (黑面), and Soup Noodles (汤面).

I personally tried at the following 2 stalls, due to many stalls were closed during CNY.

• Kingjay & Win Kopitiam (飞翼般美食咖啡店)

Besides, I found this version of garlic bread (太空包) is very popular among the locals.

DIY Series 54: Car Headlamp Bulb Replacement (H4 Bulb)

Symptoms:

Car headlamp was blown

Findings:

Found it is using H4 Bulb (Osram H4 12V  60/55W)

Photos:

1. Types of headlamps (Target: H4 Bulb)
2. H4 bulb connector
3. Look for the H4 bulb connector in your car
4. Press both side to release it
5. H4 bulb connector was released
6. Remove the rubber cover
7. Rubber cover was removed
8. Check the clip holder
9. Press the clip holder towards each other to detach it
10. Clip holder was detached
11. Remove the blown H4 bulb, replace with a new bulb
12. Re-attach the clip holder
13. Reinsert the rubber cover
14. Reconnect the H4 bulb connector

Tools required:

NIL

Cost involved:

• H4 Headlamp Bulb = US$2 to US$3

Savings:

• Labour Charges = US$2 to US$3

DIY Series 53: Sharp TV (LC-40LE280X) Unable to Keep TV Channels Saved After Power Off

Symptoms:

• Unable to keep TV channel saved after Power OFF
• There are no TV channels available upon Power ON, need to retune all channels every time Power ON.

Findings:

• Flash Memory (Winbond W25Q128FV) malfunction

3. Dismantle the stand base (4 screws)
4. Unscrew 4 screws at the bottom
5. Unscrew all screws at the back cover
6. Open up the back cover
7. Location of Power Board, Main Board, and Panel Board
8. Disconnect and take out the Main Board
9. Replace the Flash Memory (Winbond W25Q128FV) with soldering tools

Notes:

• If the above is still not working after change Flash Memory, recommended to change the Main Board

Tools required:

• Screwdriver
• Soldering Tools

Cost involved:

• Winbond W25Q128FV IC (with program flashed) = US$4.20
• Main Board (Used Unit) = US$30

Remarks:

After fixing, if the TV screen is black screen when Power ON, do a factory reset:

• a) Unplug the TV power cord
• b) Hold the Power Button for 30sec
• c) Plug in the TV and Power ON again

Check online for more alternative approaches if this is not working for your case.

National Park (Mangroves) at Johor, Malaysia. It is located at the southernmost tip of mainland Asia. A place worth to have a visit. You can easily spot a snake, monitor lizard, lizard, bird, insect, newt, etc...

Best to go at 09:00. Closed at 16:30.

DIY Series 52: Solar-Powered LED Light (Changing Battery)

 Solar-Powered LED Lights

• Suitable for outdoor usage with no wiring needed. Brightness is reasonably good.
• Bought in Year 2021 for spare units, but no longer working due to Rechargeable Battery (18650 Li-Ion, 3.7V, 2200mAh) was spoilt.
