Symptoms:
  • Printer "Cover is Open": Printer's cartridge door is not properly closed
  • Register the Cassette Paper Information [OK] Next: Paper Tray is not properly opened
  • Error 168A: Install The Cartridges Properly: Try to reinsert cartridge again

    • Temporary Solution: Put paper to release the door sensor & close the door

Solution: Use paper to block the latch and release door sensor

Alternative Approach:
  • Proceeds to disassemble the printer to deactivate both door sensor and paper tray sensor. Removed 4 screws at the top cover.
  • Dismantle the plastic holder (2 screws) of the door latch switch and the paper tray latch switch
  • Check the mechanism of the miniature switch (1BD007-1154L) on its connectivity using multimeter. Found the toggle is worn-out, occasionally functioning with excessive force apply on the latch.
  • Prepare 2 small portion of wires (3cm to 4cm length), strip the outer insulator with wire stripper.
  • Use the wire, make a loop and tie the wire onto the 2 terminals of the switch (shorted / bypass the switches). Both door sensor and paper tray sensor had been disabled.
